Bromsgrove man given community order for growing cannabis

A MAN has been given a community order after he was found to be growing cannabis plants in his Bromsgrove flat.

Samuel Wall, 20, was seen by police sitting in an Audi car with four other people near his flat in Garrington Road at 10.30pm on January 1 last year.

Police approached the car and smelt cannabis. They later searched Wall's flat and found six immature plants growing in a tent, Alex Warren, prosecuting, told Worcester Crown Court.

There was also heating and lighting equipment, and a ventilation system.

Unemployed Wall pleaded guilty to the charge of producing the plants. He also admitted three charges of supplying cannabis after police checked his mobile phone, and discovered messages quoting prices.

Wall said he had only provided the cannabis to a friend and was not a commercial supplier. He had only been producing the cannabis for his own personal use.

Judge Robert Juckes told him he may have been lucky that the plants were discovered at an early stage before he got involved in anything more serious.

Wall was given a community order with supervision for 12 months, with 50 hours of unpaid work, and was ordered to pay £120 towards costs.
