MOTORISTS were stuck for hours on a motorway near Bromsgrove today (Saturday, December 2) after a junction was closed amid concerns for the welfare of a pedestrian.
The M5 was closed from Junction 5 to 4A in both directions from around 2.50am this morning as police dealt with the incident, which involved a person on an overbridge.
Highways England and West Mercia Police put out warnings urging traffic to use alternative routes while a diversion via the A38 was put in place as officers worked to resolve it.
West Mercia Police said the incident was finally brought to a close at around 5.50am before work to clear the traffic caught up in the drama started.
A spokesman thanked all those involved for their patience. The pedestrian is not believed to have suffered any injuries during the incident.
The motorway was fully reopened shortly before 8am this morning.
