BROMSGROVE'S new state-of-the-art leisure centre is taking shape, with just months to go until the opening.

The £10.3million facility is now watertight and plasterers have began work on the first floor walls, with tiles also being lain in the main swimming pool.

Steve Cowley, senior project manager at Morgan Sindall, said: “Work on the ground floor spa is due to start over the next week, and the site team has been installing mechanical and electrical elements.

“The project is progressing well and we’re still on course for an autumn completion.”

When finished, the School Drive centre will feature two swimming pools, a climbing wall, a 100-station fitness suite, steam room, sauna and spinning studio.

The Dolphin Centre, which it is built next to, is set to be closed down and demolished when the new one opens at the end of the year.
