A COMMUNITY barbecue at a Bromsgrove DIY shop raised £145 to help homeless youths.

Broad Street DIY hosted the fundraiser in its outdoor landscaping yard on June 3 to coincide with the 21st National BBQ Week.

Thanks to food donations from Partridge's Butchers and Stourbridge Road Sainsbury's, the store was able to give nearly all of the day's takings to charity.

Local magician Luke Baker also offered his services on the day, performing tricks to children and teaching guests the art of plate-spinning free of charge.

Director Lisa Childs said: "We have now raised nearly £350 since the start of year. We would like to reach one thousand pounds in total so will have to come up with some more fundraising ideas soon.”

The Basement Project is Broad Street DIY's nominated charity for 2017.
