PUPILS at Wychbold First and Nursery have decided their school's new motto, after agreeing the old one didn't represent their priorities.

The Pupil Parliament, made up 10 pupils aged 5 to 9, have changed the slogan from 'happy children, successful learners' to 'our best, always'.

A spokesman for the school said: "Firstly the staff decided which mottos they liked, as our school is a democracy the staff all voted and the top three were taken to the Pupil Parliament.

"Pupil Parliament did a number of whole-school assemblies where we discussed what a school motto means and why it is so important. We then held a class meeting. This is where all the children in the whole school make important decisions.

"The children in each class had to decide which motto they liked the best and most importantly, why. Each class then voted. Once the votes were counted and verified the results where clear."

'Our best, always' won 80 per cent of children's votes, followed by 'where every child soars' at 20 per cent

The Parliament then held a final assembly to reveal the winner and shared thoughts on what the new motto meant to them - not worrying if they made a mistake, doing their best every day and making an effort to keep their handwriting neat.
