A NINE-year-old girl from Stoke Prior has had a lengthy 20 inches chopped off her locks to be made into a wig for a child fighting cancer.

St John's Middle School pupil Rosie Lee had hair down to her knees until Tuesday, when hairdressers at the The Garden Salon in Redditch snipped most of it off to raise money for the Little Princess Trust.

Rosie's mum Adele Smith Lee said: "We've been trying to get Rosie to have it cut for a while and she has always said no, but then she saw something on the internet about doing it for charity.

"She's always had long hair - she was born with long hair, so she was quite nervous about having it cut off but I'm very proud of her for doing it."

Rosie has already raised the £350 needed for the wig to be made but is hoping to fundraise as much as possible for the children's cancer charity.
