HEALTH campaigners will be out in force in Bromsgrove over the weekend as they continue to rally support for a national demonstration fighting to ‘save our NHS’ services.

Supporters of Bromsgrove Against Cuts (BAC) will gather in High Street at 11am on Saturday, February 25, to publicise a national Health Campaigns Together demonstration on March 4.

The group has worked with campaigners from across the county, including former members of Save the Alex, to promote the event under the banner of 'It's Our NHS Worcestershire'.

Through demonstrations, petitioning and leafleting, they have filled almost four coaches to take to the rally in London, with a Bromsgrove to Redditch coach filled this week.

BAC representative Kevin Greenway said: “The experience of talking to people in Bromsgrove has been brilliant and so has linking up with concerned people from across Worcestershire.

“It has also been brilliant to build a link with those that led the Save the Alex campaign so successfully for many years.

“Bromsgrove and Redditch have come together and we will gather in London on March 4, with hundreds of others from Worcestershire and tens of thousands from across the UK to give a voice of protest to all of the concerns expressed to us.”

The group will hold future meetings to discuss the recent sustainability and transformation plans (STP) for a 43 per cent cuts in beds at all of Worcestershire's community hospitals.

Campaigner Jimmy Morris-Knight added: “The Worcestershire group will meet again after the demo and we in Bromsgrove Against Cuts are planning a public meeting to discuss and highlight the threat that the Sustainability and Transformation Plans pose.

“That threat is more cuts and cuts are a political choice. We can take no more.

“The concern of Bromsgrove people, NHS users and staff is shown by the volume of people booked on to coaches travelling from Worcestershire with many others making their own way on train.”

Residents are welcomed to join in by signing petitions and chatting with campaigners about their concerns at the stall on Saturday.
