STAFF at a Bromsgrove opticians are appealing for generous customers to bring in donations of food to help those in need this Christmas.

Specsavers, located on High Street, will be collecting on behalf of Catshill and Marlbrook Foodbank to help provide food parcels to local people in desperate need.

Customers can donate non-perishable items such as tinned and jarred foods, dried pasta, rice, soups, biscuits and other long-life products.

Store director, Mark Gibson, said: "Foodbanks rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of those in the community, so we thought this was a great way to encourage our customers to help make another family’s Christmas a little bit brighter this year.

"There are so many families, even in the Bromsgrove area, who need our help and support and we hope that over the Christmas months and into the New Year, we can help them.

"As a store we recognise that our commitment goes far beyond just our customers, it extends to the wider community."

The foodbank initiative aims to support individuals and families in need by working with local churches and community groups to stop hunger and combat poverty.

To donate, visit Specsavers at 131 High Street or call 01527 579815.
