M&S Longbridge are organising what they hope to be the world's biggest coffee morning for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The flagship store is joining forces with Macmillan in an attempt to raise more money than ever before to help people with cancer take back control of their lives.

M&S are now calling on its customers to join the initiative, by joining them on September 30, for a cup of coffee and a slice of cake.

Throughout September, a host of cakes and sweet treats will be on sale in the store's foodhall, with 10 per cent of each sale going to Macmillan.

Products include Victoria sandwiches, afternoon tea, fairy cakes and cookies.

All M&S cafes across the country will be donating 5p from every cup of coffee and slice of cake sold to the charity.

A range of limited edition home products will also be made available in a number of M&S homeware departments, with 10 per cent of each sale going to Macmillan.

Mark Fruin, store manager at M&S Longbridge, said: "Macmillan is a charity that’s close to the hearts of many of our customers and colleagues which is why we’re determined to make this year’s event our most successful yet.

“World’s Biggest Coffee Morning provides the perfect opportunity to get your friends and family together to enjoy a coffee, a cake and a catch-up for what is a very worthy cause. If you aren’t hosting your own coffee morning then we’d love to see you join us in-store on September 30 to help us raise funds."

On the day of the coffee morning, Macmillan workers will be able to claim a free coffee, while M&S Sparks Loyalty Card customers, who have chosen Macmillan as their selected charity, will be granted a double donation - from 1p to 2p - on each transaction.

Alix Wooding, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Macmillan Cancer Support, said: "If you can’t do it on September 30 then just pick another day or you can also support us by visiting M&S Longbridge for a cup of coffee or by picking up one of the many treats on offer throughout September that will see much needed funds donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.”
