THE Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid has welcomed a fall in youth unemployment in the district after new figures were releases by the Government on Wednesday, July 20.

The report issued by the Department for Work and Pensions shows the number of 16-24 year-olds not in full-time education across the UK before breaking the figures down by different regions.

In the Bromsgrove constituency, 120 young people are currently registered as unemployed, with the figure having dropped by 71.8 per cent since the coalition government came to power in May 2010.

Mr Javid said: “I very much welcome this huge fall in youth unemployment, it’s great to see more local young people getting the start they deserve.

“I’m also pleased that overall unemployment levels in Bromsgrove remain low at just one per cent. There’s always more to do though, and preparations are underway for my third Bromsgrove Jobs Fair at the start of next year.”
