FANS of the Fab Four who are still mourning the break-up of the band, and those who revelled in the creativity that followed, should all get a kick out of a new show coming to the Artrix next month.

The show ‘Wings over Abbey Road’ tells the story of the Beatles from the release of the iconic Abbey Road album, which caught the band crossing at the now famous Abbey Road zebra crossing on its cover, to when everything fell apart in April of 1970 when Paul McCartney announced he was leaving, and went on to form his new band Wings, with wife Linda, former Moody Blues guitarist Denny Laine, and drummer Denny Seiwell.

Wings had a highly successful career together, which was dwarfed by the previous success of the Beatles but still saw 23 singles released and nine albums.

Wings over Abbey Road, which is coming to the Artrix on Friday, July 15 from 8pm, works as a celebration of Paul McCartney’s career, with the first half being delivered in the form of a live performance of the entire Abbey Road album, and the second half, a tribute to Wings’ greatest hits.

Tickets are £17.50 and can be purchased from the box office on 01527 577330 or at artrix.co.uk.
