A COUNSELLOR in Bromsgrove is offering therapy sessions at cost price to help people waiting for treatment on the NHS.

Debbie Reed, an accredited and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, (BACP) has a practice on the Kidderminster Road in Bromsgrove, and has launched the scheme in reaction to the fact that some people may be waiting for NHS counselling sessions for as long as 12 months.

Debbie is offering 50 minute counselling sessions at a reduced fee of £10 for people on low incomes or the unemployed, where people can receive therapy for issues ranging from loss and bereavement, mild to moderate depression, and anxiety, to relationship problems, work and family issues, and low self esteem.

Debbie said: “We are able to offer this service at a low cost because the therapist’s time is offered free of charge. The fee taken will be to cover the basic overheads, ie; the costs of the room and the admin, making access to immediate support an affordable option.”

The practice will be working in partnership with local universities and colleges, and using trainee therapists who have successfully completed their initial counselling training and are ready to complete their placement hours. They will all be privately supervised and insured, and they have been assessed as competent to work with the public in a clinical setting.
