CORONATION Street star Steven Arnold is coming to the Artrix next month with a musical all about the early life of silent movie star Charlie Chaplin.
‘Chaplin’ concentrates on the story of Chaplin’s troubled childhood, growing up in Victorian London, when, after his mother was placed in an asylum, Charlie and his brothers were sent to the workhouse.
The musical shows how Charlie worked his way up through the Vaudeville circuit and into the primitive early days of Hollywood, ending with his big breakthrough film ‘The Kid’.
The show, which is coming to the Artrix as part of a tour on Wednesday, July 13, stars Steven Arnold, who played Ashley Peacock in Coronation Street as Charlie’s brother, with Emmerdale actress Rachael Wood, and Helena Gullan, who has recently performed in the musical Once in the West End. It also features live musicians who will be performing on stage.
