WORCESTERSHIRE MEP Daniel Dalton recently visited one of Bromsgrove’s oldest family farms to discuss issues facing local poultry and arable farmers.

Mr Dalton met with Jonathan Smalley, owner of a farm in Bromsgrove, along with representatives from the National Farmers Union (NFU).

The MEP discussed some of the key concerns around competition, disease control and EU farm payments as well as looking at ways that British produce can be promoted.

Mr Dalton said: “Jonathan and the NFU helped me to see first-hand the challenges facing our farm businesses and they some real issues which I will highlight wherever possible in Brussels. Jonathan and his family have farmed in Bromsgrove for over half a century and know their industry inside out.

"Supporting our local farmers is something I am passionate about. I want British farmers to trade on a level playing field with their counterparts in the rest of Europe and in the rest of the world, and it is vital that the rules are fair and equitable to ensure they can do just that."
