MPs Karen Lumley and Sajid Javid recently held talks with key members of the Worcestershire Local Medical Committee (LMC) over fears for Redditch's Alexandra Hospital.

Doctors Simon Parkinson and Shaun Pike wanted to talk about issues surrounding the Alex Hospital, but the group also talked about GP contracts, seven-day-a-week opening and different ways of delivering services.

Worcestershire LMC is the elected statutory body representing the interests of all the family doctors working in the county of Worcestershire.

It provides assistance for general practitioners on all matters relevant to general practice such as NHS regulations, contracts, GP terms and service of conditions, complaints and partnership issues.

The LMC also represents GPs in discussions with local and regional health authorities.

Speaking after the meeting Redditch MP Mrs Lumley said: “With health top of the agenda presently, it was good to see Simon and Shaun in London. It is useful to catch up regularly and we had a meaningful and constructive discussion about many things.”
