BROMSGROVE comedy fans will be among the first in the country to enjoy TV presenter and funnyman Rory McGrath in his debut stand-up tour.

The star will regale his audience with tales from his childhood, time as a builder's labourer, his career as a writer and presenter and his obsession with football.

And he will shine his comic torch into the "murky corners of his life and times" unearthing "some astonishing things, including a half-eaten Twix and an out-of-date Oyster card".

The tour of Rory McGrath Remembers (...Or is it Forgets) begins in early February - and Bromsgrove fans get the chance to see it at the Artrix on February 18.

In the show he will look back over his life and wonder if he can remember any of it - promising that, if not, he will just make it up.

Rory wrote and starred in Channel 4’s hit sketch show "Who Dares Wins", as well as starring as a permanent panellist on BBC 1’s "They Think It’s All Over" for over a decade.

He went on to star in seven series of the comic documentary series Three Men in a Boat with Griff Rhys Jones and Dara O’Briain and in the Channel 5 show Rory and Paddy’s Great Adventure, alongside Paddy McGuinness.

His radio credits include the BBC Radio 4 series Injury Time and he was an in house writer for the likes of Peter Cook, Frankie Howerd and Alfred Marks.

He is also the co-founder of Hat-Trick productions, responsible for legendary TV shows including Have I Got News For You, Whose Line is it Anyway and Father Ted.

The promoters warn that the show includes adult themes and "traces of peanut oil".

Tickets are available at theartrix.co.uk or by phoning 01527 577330.
