ORGANISERS of a Bromsgrove race have thanked the runners that helped to raise thousands for town charities.

The Timberhonger 10k, along with a 1,500 metre children's challenge, was held as part of Bromsgrove Carnival weekend at Sanders Park in July and featured 500 entrants - a record number.

This year's event managed to raise £5,000, which is being split between the Primrose Hospice, the Basement Project and the Friends of the Princess of Wales Community Hospital.

Race director Mark Graham recently visited the charities to see their work including meeting Jackie Hooper from the Basement Project, to see its work helping young homeless people find accommodation and employment.

Helen Garfield, chief executive officer at the Primrose Hospice, said she was delighted by the money raised from the Timberhonger run.

Mark Graham said: "It’s fantastic to see the great work the charities are doing for people here in Bromsgrove and we are delighted to support them."
