Final touches are now being put into Pinpoint Productions' forthcoming production of Godspell, due to be staged at Redditch’s Palace Theatre in September.

Pinpoint Productions is a new, Redditch-based theatre company specialising in musicals for small casts.

The nine performers in Godspell, all local and seasoned Palace performers including Brett Elesmore as Jesus and Paul Mitchell as Judas, are on-stage throughout the show and all have to sing, dance and act in equal measure.

First performed in 1971, Godspell is a groundbreaking Broadway musical with songs by the award winning composer of Wicked, Stephen Schwartz.

The show features the songs Day by Day, All Good Gifts, We Beseech Thee and Beautiful City.

UK productions of the musical have starred David Essex, Jeremy Irons, Marti Webb, Davy Jones and Darren Day.

Godspell, directed by James Suckling and choreographed by Adele Robinson, relies simply on the skill of the cast to retell the story of Jesus’ life, based on the Gospel of St. Matthew, beginning with the parables and ending with the crucifixion.

The show, with comedy and tragedy in equal measure, is sure to make audiences laugh and cry.

Godspell runs from Thursday, September 17 to Saturday, September 19. Tickets are on sale now at The Palace Theatre box office on 01527 65203 or redditchpalacetheatre.co.uk.
