A BROMSGROVE woman has raised an impressive amount of money for a cancer charity through a tea party.

Jane Saunders organised a strawberry tea party which took place at her home in Birmingham Road, Marlbrook, on Sunday, August 9.

Held in her garden, Jane organised the event after her recent treatment for breast cancer, during which she received the support of the Breast Cancer Care charity.

Overall £1,000 was raised, which is being matched by the Eversheds LLP company.

Jane, a retired child protection solicitor, said: "Organising the event so soon after completing my treatment was a bit of a challenge, especially as I had no way of knowing how many people might attend.

"However, with the fantastic support of friends and local businesses, everything ran smoothly.

"Everything required for the tea and the stalls was donated, which meant that every penny raised will go to the charity."

"I am indebted to my husband’s employers, Eversheds LLP, for their tremendous generosity.”

Alec Raven, head of community fundraising at Breast Cancer Care, said: “The funds raised will help Breast Cancer Care make a huge difference to the lives of thousands of women waking up to the harsh reality of breast cancer every day.”
