BROMSGROVE'S MP and Business Secretary has thanked citizens advice staff for providing constituents with the advice and support they need to overcome their problems.

At an event in Parliament Sajid Javid met people from across the Citizens Advice service and spoke to them about the valuable work they do to help people help themselves.

Between 2014 and 2015 Mr Javid's local Citizen's Advice provided more than 10,000 appointments of free, confidential and impartial advice to 2,000 people on 14,000 issues.

Sonia Hambidge, chief executive of Bromsgrove and District Citizens Advice, said: "Anyone struggling with a problem can get free, high quality and independent advice from Bromsgrove and District Citizens Advice.

"Whether it is a problem at work or money worries, letting agent fees or queries about the benefits system our staff and volunteers are here to help.

“The impact of our service is not just felt by our clients. By addressing issues early on we can stop people’s problems escalating which can mean savings to local and national government services.”

Business Secretary, Sajid Javid said: “Citizens Advice has an important role to play in helping businesses thrive and the economy grow.

"Empowered and assertive consumers demand more of the businesses they buy from and as a result make British business better."
