TWO Bromsgrove residents will be putting their best foot forward when they take to the street of Germany's capital for a marathon.

Friends Callum McDermott and Tom Brooks, both Aston Fields residents, are taking part in the Berlin Marathon to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Tom has decided to take part in the prestigious marathon this September as his mum was diagnosed with mouth cancer in 2011.

Tom said: "It was a difficult time for us but we pulled through and thankfully she has made a full recovery. However there are a lot of people out there who aren't as lucky."

Callum said he wanted to do the challenge to support Tom, and make sure they both raised as much money as possible for a wonderful charity.

The pair have already raised £300 towards a £1,000 target.

Both Callum and Tom have run half marathons before, but they wanted to go to a full marathon distance and decided Berlin would be a great experience and provide the difficult challenge they wanted.
