ARMY cadets from Bromsgrove have been helping to provide activity sessions for children receiving support through the county council’s Stronger Families Team.

Cadets from the Bromsgrove troop A Company Hereford and Worcester Army Cadet Force, helped to plan and run two activity session for children aged between five and 16 years old.

The child got an opportunity to have a go at some of the cadet’s usual activities including navigation, fieldcraft training, marching, command tasks and sports.

Sergeant Major James Simon, the training officer for B Company, Hereford and Worcester, Army Cadet Force, and also a Stronger Families Key Worker with Children's Services at Worcestershire County Council, said: "The cadets from Bromsgrove Troop did a sterling job putting on the training which was imaginative and exciting.

"The cadets have offered the children access to the organisation where ordinarily they would not have the opportunity. The cadets and children had a great time and look forward to future activities between the two organisations."

Councillor Liz Eyre, Worcestershire County Council cabinet member for children and families, added: "The cadets and their trainers are setting a wonderful example and deserve our praise for giving up their time to teach these children and young people new skills."

The Bromsgrove Troop army cadets meet at Kidderminster Road in Bromsgrove every Tuesday between 7.30pm and 9.30pm.
