AN award winning actor is set to perform Wilde Without the Boy and The Ballad of Reading Gaol at the Artrix Arts Centre in Bromsgrove on Sunday, February 8.
The story follows the dramatisation of a letter called ‘De Profundis', written by the world-famous author Oscar Wilde who was imprisoned in Reading gaol, after being convicted of homosexual offences in 1895. He was sentenced to two years’ hard labour.
Actor Gerard Logan will be taking to the stage for the production of two sections of the letter, Wilde Without the Boy, which Wilde wrote during his time in prison, and The Ballad of Reading Gaol, which he wrote after his release. The letter was written to Wilde's lover, Lord Alfred Douglas.
The performer Logan, won the Best Actor Award in the 2014 Buxton Fringe Festival and has been nominated for his excellence in professional theatre at the annual Laurence Olivier Awards, held by the Society of London Theatre.
The production is being directed and dramatised by Gareth Armstrong.
Standard tickets cost £12. Doors will open at 7.30pm.
