VOLUNTEERS from a Bromsgrove scout group have given their headquarters a new coat of paint.

Leaders, helpers and other volunteers from the 1st Bromsgrove Scout Group recently gave up a weekend to decorate the group's Charford Road-based home.

The work is being completed in time for the scout's spring term.

The group is more than 100 years old and is the oldest group in Bromsgrove.

The headquarters is also home to the newest Bromsgrove Group, 9th Bromsgrove Scouts as well.

Peter Dodman, from the scout group, said: "All scouting is run entirely by volunteers, not just the evenings and camps for the young boys and girls, but also the fundraising and maintenance of buildings and equipment.

"1st Bromsgrove would like to thank Morrisons for letting them fundraise there recently and to all the shoppers who contributed raising an impressive £848."

"Some of this money will be going towards more improvements at the group's headquarters."

The group is appealing for new scout leaders and volunteers to help out with various tasks including maintenance and admin.
