A BROMSGROVE animal adoption centre needs the support of townsfolk to ensure pets in its care enjoy the festive period.

The Bromsgrove branch of the Blue Cross is calling for animal lovers to donate toys and treats for the homeless and abandoned pets.

The Blue Cross' animal rehoming centre in Wildmoor Lane has launched an Amazon gift list to help get all the pets the goodies they deserve.

Staff at the centre are hoping for bumper bundles including fun agility equipment, tasty treats, leads and cosy coats.

The charity is also appealing for donations towards the £1.9million refurbishment of the centre, which is currently underway.

Rugby stars from the Worcester Warriors are supporting the campaign and have teamed up with their dogs and homeless dogs from Blue Cross, to create a special charity calendar to raise funds. Calendars are priced at £5 and are available from local Blue Cross charity shops, the Sixways store and warriors.co.uk.

Neil Edwards, Bromsgrove's centre manager, said: “Every year, we try and make the pets stay with us extra special over Christmas.

"We hope local animal lovers will help us with a donation or special gift from the wish list which has items for all budgets.

"Just a few pence will really make a difference to homeless pets at Christmas".
