A CONSTRUCTION worker has been injured while working at road works at Lydiate Ash.
The man, understood to be in his 20s, was working at Junction 4 of the M5 yesterday, (November 17), at around noon.
An ambulance, an ambulance officer, the Trusts Hazardous Area Response Team, and the crew of the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham also attended the scene by rapid response vehicle due to poor weather conditions.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find a man who was trapped by his leg under soil that was being moved by a JCB.
"It is believed the side of the embankment had partially collapsed landing on the man causing serious leg injuries.
“The man was released from being trapped and received emergency treatment at the scene including pain relief."
After being released the man was carried up a steep embankment and was transferred, by land ambulance, to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Major Trauma Unit for further emergency treatment.
