A BROMSGROVE resident who works for a national charity based in the town is making a last push for donations ahead of her fundraising run.

Margaret Gwilliam, an administrator at the Life After Stroke Centre in Church Lane, is taking part in the Birmingham Half Marathon this Sunday, October 19.

The centre is the headquarters of the national charity the Stroke Association, which supports stroke survivors, families and carers.

Margaret stepped up her training in the run up to the event by taking part in the Timberhonger and Worcester 10k events, as well as other half marathons in Worcester and Malvern.

She has also run a couple of times a week with the Worcester group Black Pear Joggers, based at Perdiswell Leisure Centre.

Margaret said: "Stroke can leave you disabled and not able to move, hence why I’m supporting the charity I work for because I want to keep moving and I believe in Life after Stroke."

The Bupa Great Birmingham Run is the biggest half marathon in the Midlands. In previous year it has attracted 20,000 runners, all attempting to run the 13.1 mile course.
