A TALENTED pianist is opening up a new season of chamber music concerts in Bromsgrove.
Leon McCawley makes his third appearance at Bromsgrove Concerts this Friday, October 3.
Leon won first prize in the International Beethoven Piano Competition in Vienna, and second prize in the Leeds International Piano Competition at the age of 19 in 1993.
He has then gone on to build a distinguished career in concert halls across the world.
His programme spans the music of 19th century in all its variety - from classical Beethoven to the passion and poetry of Liszt, via the lyricism of Mendelssohn and the drama of Chopin and Rachmaninov.
Janet Upward, chairman of Bromsgrove concerts, said: “We are very fortunate in Bromsgrove to have this opportunity to hear a live performance by such an acclaimed pianist.
"Leon’s previous appearances have enthralled us and we are delighted that he will be opening our season.”
The concert, being held at the Artrix theatre in School Drive, starts at 8pm.
Tickets cost £17 for single tickets or £3 for concessions, which includes registered disabled, and unemployed or full time students over 25.
A subscription for all eight concerts is also available.
Young people, aged under 25-years-ago, are admitted free to all concerts thanks to the Cavatina Chamber Music Trust.
Tickets are available from the Artrix by calling 01527 577330, or visit artrix.co.uk.
