WALKERS can take part in a community event being held in Barnt Green this month.

There will be four guided walks of varying distances at the event, taking place on Saturday, September 27.

Walks start and finish at Millennium Park in Hewell Road, taking in beauty spots including the Worcester and Birmingham canal, Upper and Lower Bittell Reservoirs, Cofton Church, Lickey Visitors Centre and woods.

The event, organised by Barnt Green Parish Council, follows the success of the 2013 walk when more than 200 people took part.

The first walk of seven miles starts at 1.30pm leaves Barnt Green for Lickey Woods and Vistors Centre, Cofton Church, Bittell reservoirs, the Worcester and Birmingham canal and Withybed Green.

The rest of the walks are designed to fit in as many of these attractions as possible.

There are two four mile walks starting at 3pm; one seeing Bittell Reservoirs, the Worcestershire and Birmingham canal, Withybed Green, while the other visits Lickey Woods and Visitors Centre, Cofton Church, and Bittell reservoirs.

The final walk, a two-and-a-half distance, visits Bittell reservoir before returning to Barnt Green.

All the walks arrive back at Millennium Park at 5.30pm for a pig roast - vegetarian options are available.

Individuals and families are invited to come along on the day and join in. Children are welcome but, if under 16-years-old, it is asked they are accompanied by a responsible adult.

Dogs are also welcome to join the walk, but need to be on a lead.
