KEEN golfers can get into the swing of things at a charity golf day being held in Blackwell.

The Rotary Club of North Worcestershire is hosting a fundraising golf event at Blackwell Golf Course, in Agmore Road, on Thursday, August 28.

The club is aiming to raise thousands for their chosen charities.

Among the charities being supported is Worcestershire Special Olympics, which is a group of dedicated adults and parents who provide athletic training, coaching and motivation for children and young adults with learning difficulties several nights a week.

Another charity being supported is Prostate Cancer Awareness, which runs free drop in clinics for men and for after care charities who provide much needed help and care for patients and relatives.

Money will also go to Polio Eradication, a public and private partnership led by national Governments and spearheaded by the World Health Organization, aiming to to eradicate polio worldwide.

The final charity to benefit is Mission Morogoro Tanzania - the Worcestershire based project started in 2012 that aims to fund a rural based clinic in Tunguli and a Berega Hospital in Tanzania.

Dave Foster, president of Rotary Club of North Worcestershire, said: "The Rotary Club will be hosting a charity golf event, where we hope to raise more than £5,000 for needy charities."
