BROMSGROVE police are investigating four attacks on BMWs in the town on the same night.

One of the incidents happened in Long Meadow Road, Catshill, just after midnight on Wednesday, April 9, when a vehicle was broken into and reprogrammed before the offenders were disturbed.

A neighbour saw two male offenders, one of whom was described as tall and wearing a light coloured top, smash the driver's side window.

It was discovered the plastic panelling inside the vehicle had been removed to gain access to the reprogramming port and part of the vehicle had been reprogrammed as the victim’s key would no longer lock it.

The two suspects left the area on foot after being disturbed.

Police are linking the incident to three other attacks on BMWs that happened in Bromsgrove overnight between Tuesday, April 9, and Wednesday, April 9.

In Stratford Gardens a window of a BMW was smashed and a lid removed to access the electronics.

In another incident, in Primrose Close, Lickey End, a hole was made in the window and a piece of plastic interior removed.

In the fourth incident, in All Saints Place, a window was smashed but no entry was gained.

PC Matthew Brittain of West Mercia Police said: “It is believed the aim in all four cases was to steal the vehicles.

“It is good practise for owners, not only of BMWs and other expensive makes but of all vehicles, to park them overnight in a secure garage where possible.”
