The drama of Beethoven in Swindon

9:44am Thursday 17th January 2013

Swindon Recital Series artistic director Paul Turner presents Beethoven’s Pathetique sonata next Wednesday in the latest of the Wyvern’s lunchtime recitals.

His programme of popular German classical composers begins with sparkling works by Bach and Mozart, contrasted with the deeply felt and dramatic Beethoven piece.

The founder of the Recital Series has stepped into the breach to replace Joy Walker.

Paul is an honours graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, and has won many awards including the Queen's Commendation for Excellence and the Peter Pears’ Accompaniment Prize, adjudicated by Pears himself.

He has appeared at London’s leading venues and festivals across the country. The concert pianist will be playing from 1.05pm at the Wyvern Theatre. Tickets are £5 and there are tea and cakes available beforehand in the Wyvern’s café bar for £3.50. Information about the recital series can be found at www.swindonrecitalseries.org.
