PEOPLE are being reminded that the first ever Police and Crime Commissioner elections are getting closer.

Wychavon District Council is telling all residents that they will soon begin to receive polling cards ahead of the election on Thursday, November 15.

Police and Crime Commissioners will be elected by the public to oversee how crime is tackled in their area to make sure the police are providing a good service.

There is more information about the elections at aboutmyvote.co.uk/pcc.aspx.

Details of the candidates standing for election in the West Mercia Police area will be available at choosemypcc.org.uk from Friday, October 26.

People will be able to make their choice by going to their local polling station or through postal voting.

If you haven’t registered to vote, or if you aren’t sure whether you are on the Register of Electors, or if you would like to vote by post, telephone Wychavon District Council on 01386 565437.
