A MAN who burgled a booking office at a Worcestershire railway station has been told to get his life back on track.

Oliver Fearnall, of Wylds Lane, Worcester, pleaded guilty to breaking into the office at Droitwich railway station, Union Lane, with the intent to steal on Tuesday, April 17.

Kerry Lovegrove, prosecuting at Worcester Magistrates Court, said police were called after two men were seen running away from the station at about 3.45am.

Officers found that the upper window of the outer door and inner security glass had been smashed.

Fearnall was identified from blood which was found inside the office.

Ms Lovegrove said: “He went to the station with the other male and used a claw hammer to smash the outer window while his friend went inside and smashed the other window.

“But he cut his hand smashing the glass in the door.”

It cost £460.16 to replace the glass in the door and £455 to replace the chip and pin machine which was broken during the raid.

The court heard how the 20-year-old also admitted an attempted burglary at the station’s Snacks on Tracks cafe on Saturday, May 5, which caused £400 damage to the shutters.

Mark Lister, defending, told the court that the crime would not have been solved had Fearnall not volunteered the evidence about the attempted burglary.

Mr Lister said: “He needs to get his life back on track and make sure that he gets out of the cycle of offending. He has stopped the use of drugs which was behind a lot of the offending.”

Earlier in the month Fearnall was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for two years, with two years supervision and 80 hours of unpaid work in relation to a charge of stealing two boxes of Disney stickers worth £50 from outside the One Stop shop, St Peter’s, Worcester.

Fearnall was handed a 15-week sentence, suspended for two years, for the burglary to run concurrently with the previous sentence and given an additional 80 hours of unpaid work.

He was also ordered to pay £400 compensation in relation to the booking office burglary and £100 for the attempted burglary.
