A TOWN youngster has been recognised for his volunteer work with adults with learning disabilities.
Daniel Birch, aged nine, from Droitwich Spa, was given an achievement award at West Mercia Police's annual Young Good Citizen of the Year ceremony.
He was nominated by the Droitwich Challengers Gateway Club, a social club for adults with learning disabilities. Daniel has been helping out at its weekly meetings, which involves selling food, quiz evenings, bingo, barbecues and helping the members to draw and paint. He treats them with respect and they are all very fond of him.
Daniel was amongst 10 children who were crowned winners at a gala event at force HQ, Hindlip Hall, Worcester on Thursday, October 4.
The awards, now in their 25th year, aim to honour those whose acts of generosity and displays of community spirit have made a difference to other people's lives.
The winning youngsters were chosen from nearly 100 young people nominated from across Herefordshire, Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Worcestershire.
