PLANS are being formed to make Droitwich Spa a destination for boat owners and canal barge enthusiasts.
Wychavon District Council is hoping to make the town a top boating attraction with the help of a special summer event in 2013.
As the custodians of Vines Park, the council is proposing a boat gathering in the park and on the canal in Droitwich during the summer, and they want to hear from organisations interested in running the event.
The boat gathering could also work together with other events and festivals.
Phil Merrick, head of community services at Wychavon District Council, said: “The canal reopening was a major boost for the town and district and it is important that we promote it as a real asset. A key principle in running this event will be partnership, and I hope that local, interested parties will come together to put on an excellent event.”
