STORE workers in Droitwich have raised £800 for a cancer charity by completing a sponsored walk.

Staff at Wilkinsons in St Andrew’s Square, have collected the sum in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The 25 strong team donned charity t-shirts and embarked on a circular 14 mile route from the store, along the Droitwich canal and back, which was completed in five hours.

Participants had been encouraging shoppers, friends and family to dig deep ahead of the walk in order to raise as much money as possible.

Sarah Kerlew, store manager, said: “The whole team really got into the spirit of the day and thoroughly enjoyed the walk, which has resulted in the great amount raised for Macmillan. We can’t thank everyone enough for the support and for helping us to achieve this brilliant total.”

Catriona Munn, partnerships account manager at Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “All the funds received by Wilkinsons, including the fantastic amount raised through the Droitwich store’s sponsored walk, will go a long way to helping the Macmillan team support people affected by cancer every step of the way.”
