A SEX offender already serving 10 years in jail has had his sentence extended after further crimes came to light.
Mark Bowie, aged 41, formerly from Droitwich, was jailed in November last year for 15 offences with children under 13 and was given an extended licence period of 10 years for public protection.
Paul Whitfield, prosecuting, said Bowie had now been charged with a further sex assault, on a girl under 16, and rape charges. Bowie, an alcoholic, pleaded guilty last month at Worcester Crown Court.
Sentencing him, Judge Toby Hooper said Bowie was a risk. He gave him a total of 12 years jail to start from the date of the sentence, replacing the previous 10 year term. He will serve half in custody but instead of serving the remaining six years on licence, the period will be extended to 12 years. Judge Hooper said it amounted to an 18-year sentence though not all of it will be spent in custody.
