A MONTH’S worth of rainfall lashed across Worcestershire in just one day, causing traffic chaos.
The deluge on Monday, September 24, turned some main and back roads into rivers, with about 10 of them closed at various points as they became impassable.
It was a busy day for the police and Hereford and Worcester fire brigade which carried out several rescues from vehicles.
The unrelenting weather also caused a jump in roadside assistance work with the RAC posting an increase of 25 per cent in call-outs.
And more heavy rain and gusty winds will hit Worcestershire over the next few days, according to forecasters.
Having weathered the earlier deluge there are now concerns more rain to the north of the county could push up river levels.
David Throup, the Environment Agency’s local area manager predicted more rain, although not as bad as on Monday.
