A JOBS fair organised through Worcestershire County Council has been hailed as a success, after people queued up outside the Guildhall in Worcester even before it had started.
The fair saw 35 employers from across the county advertising more than 500 roles of all kinds, including part-time and full-time work, seasonal and weekend jobs.
The event was organised with JobCentre Plus and the Worcestershire Local enterprise Partnership as part of the Worcestershire Business Central campaign.
Coun Simon Geraghty, Worcestershire County Council's cabinet member for economy and infrastructure, said: "I was delighted to see such a great turnout from residents looking for work from across Worcestershire. It was clear that there was a genuine buzz about the day with those attending being presented with a fantastic mixture of opportunities from a wide range of business sectors.
"Under our 'Open for Business' agenda we are aiming to improve skills and work with local businesses to increase economic prosperity. Worcestershire's Job Fair is just one small, yet very important, part of that."
A range of roles were showcased during the day, ranging from retail and social care, to drivers, admin staff, designers and engineers.
Jobseekers who were unable to attend the event, but are still interested in finding out more about the job opportunities that were showcased, can contact Aamir Kayani at akayani@worcestershire.gov.uk or call 01905 766816.
