A DROITWICH boy’s dreams came true when he won a competition to be a mascot for a top football match.

Charlie Miles, aged seven, who plays for Droitwich Spa under 8s team won a competition to be the away mascot for West Bromwich Albion v Fulham on Saturday, September 15.

Charlie had applied via email explaining how he played football for his local team football, was a huge Albion fan, and had recently had his first full replica kit with his name and age on for his birthday.

The postman then came with a letter stating that Charlie had won.

On the day of the match he arrived early for a tour of the ground with his dad Nick and older brother Ellis.

He met the all the West Bromwich Albion and Fulham players. Charlie’s favourite player is Ben Foster and he was able to have a long chat with him before the game.

Charlie is aspiring to be a goal keeper one day and he trains with Droitwich Spa under 8s team playing in the Evesham Ambassador league this season. Charlie also spoke with Chris Kamra from Sky sports.

After all the photographs; including one with Mohammed Al Fayed, Fulham’s owner, there was time to have a quick kick about on the pitch with the home Fulham mascot, Daniel, then it was kick off time.

Mum Kate said: “Charlie was holding hands with the captain Jonas Olsson and came out of the tunnel to huge applause.

“He shook hands with all of the Fulham and West Bromwich players and fulfilled his dream to go to an away game and walk on the pitch as the mascot. He made all his family and friends proud.”
