THE town’s neighbourhood watch group is appealing for new members.

The Droitwich and Rural Neighbourhood Watch Association wants residents to come forward to help prevent crime in their area.

David Paget, deputy chairman of the group, said: “We are having trouble attracting new members, especially younger people.

“We need more people in the town who are willing to help those in their street and the surrounding area. Neighbourhood watch is very useful to people in the community and we work closely with Droitwich police to help prevent crime and to reassure and advise residents.

“We let elderly people know what is going on in the area and pass on important advice about crime prevention from police.

“We would urge more people to get in touch with us to help fill the gaps we have.”

Droitwich and Rural Neighbourhood Watch Association will have a stall at this year’s Salt Festival on Saturday, September 15.
