THE Droitwich Spa 2012 Legacy Day, postponed early this month due to bad weather, will now take place on Saturday, September 22.

Town sports clubs and societies will be demonstrating a variety of sports, fitness and leisure activities at Droitwich Spa High School and Droitwich Leisure Centre, Briar Mill, from noon - 4pm.

The Legacy Day aims to offer sport and fun for everyone, with live music, refreshments, fete activities, stalls and even an Olympic torch, to create a real carnival atmosphere.

Fifteen sports club have already signed up to provide free 'have a go' sessions in a wide range of sports including martial arts, golf, rugby, boxing, gymnastics, climbing, swimming and even scuba diving or snorkelling Organisers are still looking for more clubs and societies to get involved to promote themselves on the day.

Mark Williams, sports development officer at Wychavon District Council, said: "Inspired by the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Legacy Day will be a fantastic one day showcase of sporting and cultural activities on offer to all ages in the Droitwich Spa area. The event, organised in partnership with Droitwich Spa High School and Wychavon Leisure, aims to encourage participation in active lifestyles, the chance to try new sports, and have fun.”
