NOMINATIONS are now being taken in the West Midlands region for the Unpaid Carer’s Award for The Great North West Care Awards.

The awards will take place at The Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham on October 26 and will be hosted by TV personality Keith Chegwin. Closing date for entries is September 13.

The Unpaid Carer’s Award is one of 19 categories of the Great British Care Awards, a series of nine regional awards which celebrate excellence in social care and pay tribute to those who work in the statutory, independent and voluntary sectors throughout England well as unpaid carers.

The Unpaid Carer’s Award will be given to an unpaid carer or former carer who, in the opinion of the judges, can demonstrate commitment and perseverance in helping to bring about better recognition and support for carers. This award seeks to acknowledge and celebrate the dedication that carers show to their local community or society.

This special award is jointly supported by Carers UK, the charity set up to help the millions of people who care for family or friends and Nutricia, specialists in the delivery of advanced medical nutrition for the very young, old and vulnerable.

Successful candidates from each of the nine regional awards will be invited to attend the gala award dinner in their region.  Winners from the regions will then be invited to attend the national finals which will take place on June 15 2013 to mark the end of National Carers Week at a prestigious venue in London.
