A CHARITY golf day organised by rotary club members has raised more than £6,000 for good causes.

The Rotary Club of North Worcestershire held the charity golf day at Blackwell Golf Club, in Agmore Road, on Thursday, (August 23).

The competition saw 80 golfers take part, with prizes awarded to the team of Jonathan Thompson and Clive Walton, who had the highest stable ford score.

A number of local companies sponsored the day and donated prizes for a raffle and auction, which took place at a dinner held after the competition.

Overall £6,600 was raised, with the majority of the money being donated to Marie Curie Cancer Care and the Dodford Children’s Holiday Farm. Other regional charities are also set to benefit from the member's fund-raising efforts.

The rotary club meets every Tuesday evening at Droitwich Golf Club, in Ford Lane.

The club’s members enjoy a varied programme including talks from outside speakers, visits to business and community establishments, fund-raisers for local and international charities, and the organisation of youth competitions for local schools.

Anyone interested in attending a meeting is asked to call the club’s president, David Gilburn, on 0121 445 1456 or Milton Bowers, membership secretary, on 01527 821464.
