A POPULAR town park has been awarded Green Flag status for the second year running.

Droitwich Spa’s Lido Park and St Peters Fields, off Worcester Road, has been given the prestigious award after first scooping the prize last year.

The beauty spot joins Wychavon District Council sites in Pershore and Evesham to also be granted a flag.

Wychavon representatives joined contractors Continental Landscapes Ltd, which maintains the parks and keeps them up to the standards enjoyed by all, to celebrate the achievement.

Lynn Stevens, parks officer at the council, said: “The Green Flag awards give visitors an official seal of approval which means they can have confidence that the park meets high standards. The parks awarded the prestigious flags are something to be proud of, and our partnership with Continental Landscapes Ltd helps us to achieve this, so a big thank you to them.”

Councillor Emma Stokes, member for community services at the authority, added: “It has been a challenging year with heavy rain and flooding to contend with, but we are over the moon that we have managed to keep the standard for our parks at a high level and have again be successful in retaining our Green Flag Awards.”

Parks must re-enter the rating every year, so must continue to improve and maintain their standards.
