Pub managers complete charity car rally
2:30pm Friday 17th August 2012 in News
PUB bosses from Bromsgrove and Wychbold have helped clock up hundreds of miles during a charity car rally.
A total of 15 managers from Harvesters across the Midlands took to four wheels and fancy dress in aid of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Lickey End Harvester boss Giles Carless and Simon Appleton, from Wych Way Inn, Wychbold, took part in the sponsored rally on August 7.
The 400-mile round trip saw the fundraisers driving between the Harvester Monkspath, Solihull, and Blackpool Pier.
Clair Slevin, retail business manager for Harvester, said: “It may have taken us almost a full day to complete the challenge, but it was worth every minute and every mile as it was in aid of such a worthwhile cause.”
The managers aim to raise £7,500 from the car rally, with more than £5,000 being raised to date.
Residents are still being invited to help the Harvester managers meet their £7,500 target by texting ‘Harv 90’ and their amount to 70070 or by visiting justgiving.com/bangersandmash Make-A-Wish helps children and young people with life-threatening conditions by granting their magical wish. It was founded in the UK in June 1986 and, since then, has granted more than 7,800 wishes.
