TWINS from a Worcestershire village have appeared in a unique photograph to celebrate the 25th anniversary of a Midlands fertility clinic.

The birth of Molly and Hannah Pitchforth, of Eckington, near Pershore, marked the arrival of the 2,000th baby at the Midland Fertility Services (MFS) clinic near Walsall in 2000.

Their parents, Jim and Sally, struggled to conceive for two years before being diagnosed with unexplained infertility. After treatment, the couple’s dreams were answered when Mrs Pitchforth became pregnant and gave birth to twins.

Now 11 years old, the twins joined 25 of more than 5,000 children born as a result of treatment at the clinic for the celebratory snap in April.

Dr Gillian Lockwood, medical director at the clinic, said: “Worldwide, more than five million babies have been born after IVF and more than 5,000 are the result of all treatments at MFS.

"The stories of these amazing milestone babies tell the history of fertility medicine in the UK, including the successes and some of the sadness, and how the chance of having a baby, following treatment, has increased over the years.

“The 25th anniversary photograph celebrates the lives of all the babies born after treatment at MFS, and specifically the lives of each of the milestone babies and the positive impact fertility treatment has had on their parents and wider families.”
