MORE than 2,000 people have received free health MOTs in Worcestershire as part of plans to get people on the road to a healthier lifestyle.

Since January, more than 2,000 people have received checks for blood pressure, Body Mass Index (BMI), blood sugar levels, as well as carbon monoxide levels for smokers.

Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust’s health trainer service offers the free health MOTs. Professional health trainers have been holding the events at venues across the county with attendances rising.

Jayne McCullough, health trainer coordinator, said: It’s great to see so many people turning up. We’re delighted to see the MOTs are helping people to identify possible areas to improve their health.”

Due to the popularity of the MOTs, more dates have been added for sessions to meet demand. The service gives people the chance to have a greater understanding of their own health and to find out where to get help if change is needed.

The service offers a free and confidential support and advice service on all aspects of healthy lifestyles for anyone aged 16 and over. The next sessions are on Monday from 10am until 12.30pm at Droitwich Library; Wednesday, from 11am until 3.30pm at Ronkswood Community Centre, Worcester; on Friday from 10am until 3pm, at the YMCA in Henwick Road , Worcester; and Wednesday, August 15 from 11am until 3.30pm at Avening Close, Warndon, Worcester.
