A SPA opticians has used pedal power to help a community project continue its work for young people in Droitwich.

Staff from Specsavers, St Andrews Square, took to two wheels to cycle 140 miles to raise money for the Wychavon Youth Bus.

The bus is a mobile facility for young people and offers activities, information and other services to try and get them off the streets.

Team members took it in turns to pedal continuously on a static bike from Tuesday, August 7 to Saturday, August 11, in order to get to their target distance.

They also wore a range of wacky fitness outfits and carried out specs repairs and adjustments in return for donations to the charity. The fundraising efforts of the store will go towards new art supplies for the bus.

Emma Singh, store director at Specsavers in Droitwich, said: “The Wychavon Youth Bus does a fantastic job in helping to keep young people off the streets, so we wanted to do something to help support our local community.”

The Wychavon Youth Bus goes out to villages across the district to provide services for young people between the ages of 11 and 17. For more information visit wychavon.gov.uk/youthbus
